Shrimp farming has long been linked to environmentally destructive practices, including the destruction of mangrove fields and the heavy use of antibiotics, fertilizers, and other chemicals, along with the daily discharge of polluted water into the environment. However, QFAD is redefining aqua development by completely eliminating these harmful practices and setting a new standard for sustainable organic shrimp farming with: • 20x less land footprint than traditional systems • Zero antibiotics and polluting chemicals • Less than 1% average water discharge per day, ensuring a healthier ecosystem and producing quality food.

Shrimp is currently the most consumed seafood worldwide and also the most shipped due to limited geographical production sites. This results in a heavy CO2 footprint associated with consumer-delivered shrimp and a lack of food security, as many countries rely on imports for the majority of their shrimp consumption. The Aqua Development shrimp farming system provides a viable solution for cultivating bio shrimp anywhere in the world, which helps eliminate GHG emissions related to global shipments. Additionally, it strengthens local communities' food security by supporting the organic shrimp farming of high-quality protein, ensuring access to healthy and sustainable food.
